When you log on Cnc5 you will see multiple people with similar letters or numbers attached to their nick names, these are clan tags.
There have always been clans in RA, most of the famous old clans had already died when I started. The ones that were still around were MAN-clan, ORA, cousin and HR(=Hardcore Rapers).
I always wanted to be in ORA since they had many good players, especially my sensei Milo234.
After maybe like 6 months of hardcore training and already beating most of the players around, ORA-rock asked me to join. I was very happy, even tho I wasn't no where as good as Milo234 was yet.
However many of the rest of ORAs weren't happy and they started mumbling about that I'm not good enough yet. Although I beat their leader, son of the leader and many others. I quit ORA after being one week in it, since the crappy welcome I got.
After that I understood that it's not ORA i own anything, its Milo234 and to honour him I don't have to be in a same clan he was, even if the clan was once great and respected. Milo234 taught me a bit over a year and by now following his RA philosophy and helping nubs almost a decade I feel my debt is paid.
In the beginning of Cnc5 since there were many new potential players around, we decided with old player called Myth to establish a new clan, after discussion with other players we came up with a name TA: Tankers' Alliance. It was the first new real clan in Cnc5 and pretty soon after "builders" came up with TB: Tesla Builders and since that new clans have been popping up.
It has always been attraction for newbs to join a clan. After they have been improving they feel like they wanna upgrade their nick since they are not as newbish as they were when they started. Also being in known clan might help them to get in "pro" games.
I won't get into what clans are good or what are bad and some lesser good clans sometimes survive longer than "pro" clans.
Every clan has own policy of choosing members and for TA I'm not in a hurry to recruit new members. I recruit people who are cool with me, who are good tankers or have potential to improve fast and all-rounders who play all maps.
In the past I had clan where we all were RA buddies and after relationships between some players heated the clan died. I learned I can be buddies with players without us being in a same clan and again you don't have to be the best buddies even tho you are in the same clan. Many top players who were in the same clan in the past didn't really like each others. I too try to keep it professional and recruit people based on their skill set instead of trying to get a big amount of members.
