Half dozen semi-short tips to perform better. This stuff is well-known but sorely executed.
1. Learn to place the ref
In maps you play you should be able to place your ore refinery every time in the perfect spot just next to ore/gems. I know it sounds real obvious, but even in almost every "P4 pro game" there's someone(s) missing the spot. Not to mention even nubier games and awful ref placements on other maps.
I wrote about this earlier, why no learn?
2. Use your units
"Wowow nice production" Nowadays it's a new trend to be really hyped about production and using it as one of the guidelines will surely only improve your skills.
However, to the point: while you making sure to click the tank button, do not forgot also USE your tanks (or v2s). In most games people tend to make and stack their tanks, this is good but not pro. There's a limit how fast you can produce, what matters is what are you doing while you are not clicking the button? There's no limit in Q.
If you don't miss a click from making tanks, you are shifting and stacking them to battle it is good. But If enemy don't miss a click, is shifting and Q'ing it's sure more pr0.
3. Don't wait forever to attack
When tanking attacking after 4th war is often too late, try to attack earlier.
4. Don't park your tanks when you rush
You can't rush and just park the tanks near enemy base. When rushing you have to Q and kill extra hard.
5. Make a silo
"buhuu i was so broke" Good time to make a silo is after first ref or after the first war factory. In gem maps good to make them in mid game before money runs out, if it's a long game.
6. Continue tanking after 7th war
You don't have to start instantly cying after you have max wars. Often games last +15min extra cuz of "brb 5mins, cying". When opponent starts to make mcvs especially more than two, you have the best chance to out-tank him, after no tanks ez win.
Extra Tip: Don't listen nubs.
Be always a little skeptic about stuff you read or are told about. When somebody is advising you or telling you about their opinions take a moment to think who is speaking. If he is extra good listen carefully and take notes, but if he not very good don't learn something you have to later unlearn. Everyone has an opinion: a nub, an avg, good, pro and an extra pr0 but nub opinions/teachings are not worth anything and good player's stuff only gets you good, since they not know more themselves etc.
