First I was going to write only short reminder to remember give ORE room, however I decided to speak more generally. Keep reading if someone sometime asked you to give space.
If you played p4 you sure know the feeling you get when you can't make your second ore refinery because partner has blocked your ore. This is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to giving space for partner.
It is pretty surprising that people who now played over a year and many much longer still fail to accomplish the simple task of leaving enough ore room for partner. After you know how to drive and where to deploy you should be able to build refinery into right spot in every game. Check out how to drive+deploy on p4 if you having problems:

Never the less there's more in "giving space" than just leaving ore room, which you should quickly master.
Make sure your men are not blocking your partner. Don't ran your men over your partner's base so he has to dodge them while deploying new buildings. Don't leave your men to stand in bad spots so your partner can't deploy his cys or other buildings because they are on his way. You don't want infantry fight next to your base anyway, better to fight further where you can still manage it.
Don't block your partner's front base with powers and crap. If opponent is rushing it is good that you make teslas for defense, but making 10 powers to block your partner in so he can't build his stuff anywhere (except maybe on ore room) isn't serving anyone's purpose. Couple big powers for decay if you already have powers on back can be good, but don't over do it.
Don't block your partners back base either. If you can't finish game with your partner only tanking it is good to leave your partner some space in near back, so he don't have to drive his MCV 800 miles before he can deploy it. You may think "It isn't my fault if partner nub", however if you playing a team game you should do what you can to make your partner's play easier, don't be selfish.
After game goes longer don't spam wars and powers on front so your partner needs to make 15 silos to get in action or can't bring his units in effectively. It is good to block your opponent, but don't block your partner. Maybe he too wants to make some wars on front. Try to use that space to push and finish the game and not just trying to build map full. Try to make space by killing stuff not just spam crap on empty space.
Also for example if your partner is pushing with teslas on south, it's probably not good idea to make airfields front of them and performing the classic cockblock.
Don't let your units get stuck in your base. Common sight even (=especially xD) in "pro" games is that 100 v2s are on base and then when you try to move them it takes 10 mins cuz they so stuck.
Every once in a while you should take a look of your partner and put yourself in his boots.
This stuff applies on other maps than p4 too.
It is very tiring to always message to your partner to tell to sell something or leave space, that time is directly taken away from owning. If you are with a good player you shouldn't have to ask space and if someone messaging you to ask space in every second game you should work on it.
Accidents happen and sometimes your too busy with your own game to really see it from partner's perspective, but try :D
